Lymphomas, Metastases, and Other Malignant Tumors
|
OVERVIEW
Tumors of melanocytes and of epidermal keratinocytes are discussed in Chapters 31 and 32, respectively. Many of the benign skin appendage tumors discussed in Chapter 23 have a malignant counterpart, but these are all rare.
Other tumors that may affect the skin include the following.
| |
Lymphomas, which may be apparently confined to the skin, or part of a systemic disease, and leukemic infiltrates. |
| |
Sarcomas and nerve tumors — includes tumors arising from dermal fibroblasts, from dermal dendrocytes, or from blood or lymphatic vessels. |
| |
Histiocytoses (Chs 11 and 19). |
| |
Neuroendocrine tumors — Merkel cell carcinoma. |
| |
Glandular tumors — Paget disease. |
| |
Metastases to the skin. |
