Dental sinus
A dental sinus is the cutaneous extension of a periapical infection of the tooth. A chronic, red, crusted, draining lesion occurs along the jawline or chin (Fig.20.35). It may be bilateral, unilateral, or midline. For diagnosis, radiography with detail to the teeth of that area is needed (Fig.20.36). Dental work to treat the infected tooth or abscess is also required.
