INTRODUCTION
The area of pediatric dermatology is a specialty of its own. It combines aspects of neonatology, genetics, and pediatrics, and is much more than just ‘adult dermatology in little people'. This chapter begins with congenital lesions or birthmarks. It then considers conditions common in the infant, including diaper dermatitis. The last part of the chapter considers inherited conditions, also known as genodermatoses. Subsections include ichthyoses and palmoplantar keratodermas (see Ch. 7).
