- Why do some third-party sites ask me for a fee?
Merck
Medicus uses some information and materials that have been
developed and provided by independent third-party sources, such as
Harrison's Online and MDConsult - Merck
Medicus Edition. Although these sources or sites may charge a subscription fee to theirusers, you do not have to pay a fee as a registered user of Merck
Medicus. In order for you to
access third-party content such as Harrison's Online, your browser privacy and
security settings must be set appropriately. Please see
Tips for Best Viewing the
Site.
- Why do I need to sign in again when I signed in a little while ago?
Your signed-in status to Merck
Medicus will be removed if you are inactive
on Merck
Medicus for greater than 30 minutes at a time. Inactivity on
Merck
Medicus includes any time that you are using a third-party site, even
if you arrived there from a link in Merck
Medicus. For more information,

- Are NP/PA students able to register on MerckMedicus?
Any healthcare professional, including students, located in the USA may register
on Merck
Medicus. Some of the content providers for Merck
Medicus also
require valid licensure information in order to access their resources.

- What can residents trained outside of the United States that have difficulty registering on MerckMedicus do to gain access?
Merck
Medicus is designed for residents of the United States. If you have
a US medical licensure and address, you should use that to reigster on
Merck
Medicus. If you continue to have problems, please contact the Merck
Medicus Helpdesk.

Viewing the site
Changing personal information
- How do I change my personal information?
To change or edit your personal information, simply click on Edit My Info
in the upper right corner of the MerckMedicus homepage. On the Edit My
Info page, you can change your MerckMedicus greeting, name, address,
phone number, professional designation, specialty, state license number
and state of licensure, MEDED number, AOA number, and other license
numbers and types. Once you have made the edits that you wish, simply
click Submit at the bottom of the page to apply your changes.
- How do I change my password?
To change or edit your personal information, simply click on Edit My Info
in the upper right corner of the MerckMedicus homepage. On the Edit My
Info page, you can change your password. Once you have changed your
password, simply click Submit at the bottom of the page to apply your
changes.
- How do I recall my user ID or password if I have forgotten it?
On the home page of MerckMedicus, in the sign in box on the top left side of the page,
there are links for "forgot user ID" or "password." Click on the appropriate link
and follow the instructions after to recall your forgot user ID or reset your password.
- What if I forgot my user ID?
On the home page of MerckMedicus, in the sign in box on the top left side of the page,
there are links for "forgot user ID" or "password." Click on the forgot user ID link
and follow the instructions to recall your user ID.
Content Questions
- Are there any MerckMedicus resources in Spanish?
Yes - Patient Handouts with a * next to the title are available in Spanish.
- How many textbooks are on Medicus?
There are more than 180 textbooks available to registered users on MerckMedicus.
- How many journals are on MerckMedicus?
There are more than 150 journals available to registered users on MerckMedicus.
- How far back are the textbook and journals archived?
MerckMedicus uses some information and materials that have been developed and provided
by independent third-party sources, such as Harrison's Online and MDConsult - MerckMedicus Edition.
These vendors determine archive requirements for the content they own.
- Are CME credits sent to the state of licensure?
For the most part, the physician sends documentation (i.e. transcripts, credit certificates)
to the board attesting that they complied with the CME requirements. The state can audit
someone to supply further documentation but, for the most part, the physician is self reporting
their data. Please note that CME is not provided by MerckMedicus. CME is provided by vendors
who have links to CME from MerckMedicus. Questions about CME content, CE Medicus or MD Consult CME
should be directed to the website that offers CME credits - please use the "contact us" feature of
those websites to ask questions.
